Garage Door Repair Services – Common Garage Door Problems
Sometimes you might be able to successfully fix your garage door problems by yourself. However, there are many reasons to leave the work to the professionals. Knowing the problem with the garage door can help you in determining whether you can be able to tackle the problem by yourself or call for assistance. Below are some of the common garage door problems:
- The Transmitter Batteries are Dead
Your garage door transmitters require power to work. If its batteries are dead, you won’t be able to send signal to your garage door to open or close. The first step is to always check whether the transmitter on your garage wall is able to open your garage door when pressed.
Note that if it works just fine, then it is an indication that the transmitter in your car needs battery replacement. After the removal of the battery, ensure there’s a line-up of the plus and minus sign of the battery and the transmitter.
- Photo Eye Out of Alignment
Photo eyes are able to transmit a beam between each other to detect if there’s an obstruction along the garage door’s pathway whenever it closes. This safety mechanism prevents the door from closing on top of objects or people as it may cause damage to property and injury to people respectively.
If your garage door opens normally but doesn’t make any attempt of closing, inspection of the photo eye should be done. The photo eye could possibly be blocked with dirt causing the beam to be blocked from sensing. Cleaning should be done to the photo eye but with care to avoid scratching it as it is made of glass.
- The Track not Properly Aligned
Your garage door not being aligned is a serious issues. For your door to move, the metal track need to be aligned properly. Noticing gaps, rubbing noises and bends are an indication of a problem. For track realignment, loosen the screws that hold the track, use a rubber mallet to gently tap the track. This will make it move back into position.
Professional garage door repair companies have dealt with every situation that might cross your mind when it comes to repairing the garage door. However, some more surprising issues still pop up such as insects nesting on the photo eye sensor and tennis ball knocking the garage door off its track.
